Hi Pangaeans!
So I bet a couple of you noticed the new entry on the site. On my downtime, I play Final Fantasy XIV on the Mateus Server (It's under the Aether data center, to those who play). Before that, though, I used to play Final Fantasy XI: Online back in 2004. Final Fantasy XI was my first MMO and carries a lot of memories for me, both good and bad. Back then, I was called Nightheart on the Shiva server. I was going through some things and was generally an angry guy...honestly, I'm pretty ashamed of who I was back then. Sometime during my stint in the Air Force, I decided to quit to focus on my job. I tried going back a couple times, but I could never stay. The friends I knew were gone; most of the player base only focused on one area, and even the groups I remembered forgot about me. As such, I found it hard to go back. Now, I found a reason to. Apparently, the game created what's called a "Trust" system where you can get NPCs to join your party. For a solo-player like me, this is very beneficial. It'll help me speed up leveling so I can get my grind back. But I figure, why stop there? Why not write a story that's based on my adventures? Thus was the birth of Korvik's Journal. This will be spoken by my newly created character, named Korvik, as he begins his adventures. Experienced players will already notice some inconsistencies between what I wrote and actual gameplay. A prime example is when Korvik reads a report yet the official doesn't notice it. This is not possible in the actual game, due to mechanics. However, I'll be doing this for the sake of story. I'm starting in Bastok because I always like playing Hume. I prefer a balanced character over a character with too many stats in one area. As a game developer, though, I know why such characters are actually needed. Shiva server is where all my memories are and it's only fitting I go back to where it all began. At my core, I'm a gamer with a love for RPGs. Korvik's Journal is just something to share that's non-Pangaea related for the fun of it. Updates aren't going to be consistent though. The Missions start easy, but I'll also need to level, do side-quests, etc. in order to handle the harder stuff down the road. I'll try to make it daily since I play often when I'm not working. Don't be afraid to say hi if you see me (assuming you play) :)
