Today is a special day and something big just happened: I turn 31 on this day! For at least 25 years I have been a gamer, a lover of stories, a listener of music, and passionate writer. It wasn't until a year ago that I finally decided to take the plunge and become an indie game developer! It's been a ride so far! I've learned more about coding, story-writing, mapping, flagging, and beyond as I put this game slowly together. Sadly, I lost out on my job opportunity due to some misfortune on my end so it's back to the job hunt for me. Oh well, that's life. I was able to find something earlier, I'll find something again.
As a side project while I wait for new materials and resources, I've also returned to Final Fantasy XI Online and decided to make a story based on three adventurers from the three different nations! A lot of you have been reading this and jump on every new page I've been sending out which really makes me happy! I'd release them faster, but I need to level them up and get the appropriate jobs for them. I promised not to reveal what their actual jobs are since I wanted to keep the mystery alive and have players bond with their favorite jobs, but I may change that after a certain point for story reasons. I'm still thinking about it and I have until Selvin's and Miirah Jominsa's chapter reach a certain point. Speaking of, I've been getting a bit annoyed that Selvin and Miirah's chapters have been released separately so I'll be releasing them simultaneously starting with the upcoming chapters!
Speaking of changes being made, as I'm sure it's obvious to you veteran readers, but I've finally decided to switch out the hard-to-read grey text for the easier to read black text. Not just for my news blogs, but also the chapters as well! All the pages for Korvik, Selvin and Miirah are now in black text as well and have had a couple minor text changes. The chapter navigation system has also been completely revamped to make it easier to flip through the pages or find your favorite ones.
So what about the game itself? I'm standing by until November 10th for a serious update: new resources and the ability to customize kids. This is a big deal for me since the pre-configured ones in the game don't match what I had in mind. Plus, with this, I can finally make proper flashback sequences that show Ace and the team in their youth,
That's right, as soon as it's complete, I'll show what Cici, Blitz, and Boulder looked like as kids! I intend to keep Ace a bit of a mystery, though you will get a glimpse of Ace in the flashbacks! You'll also get to see the hostile take over of Home Town as well as how it looked before it was leveled to make the Plague Castle!
REMINDER: Don't fret for anyone who hasn't played yet. These are not spoilers as this is all early on in the Demo.
While I'm aware kids don't typically play a heavy factor in games, normally, these do and too many key players kept me from making a proper flashback. It was too hard to cut them out yet keep the scene flowing for what I had in mind. Some of the resources seems to imply I can finally fix some areas in Zack's home as well as parts of other areas, but I'm not sure yet. There's still a lot to sift through, so I can't tell if any changes will be obvious or subtle just to satisfy my vision.
Regardless, a lot has changed between a year ago and now and more changes and upgrades are coming. I'm only sorry I had to remove the release date, but in a way. I'm kind of glad since I can focus on bringing the quality I'm looking for to life!
